PepBoys Automotive Repair Casa Grande PepBoys wanted $500 to fix my car — actual repair cost: $2

On the current late Sunday evening, I had been operating from Tucson, Arizona to Phoenix, Arizona in my own Mazda Miata after I noticed a loud boom from underneath the vehicle. I stopped and appeared underneath the motor and smelled leaking radiator water. I named my insurance provider plus they towed it to some PepBoys automotive repair service in Casa Grande, AZ. I actually donot understand why it had been towed there vs elsewhere however the vehicle wound up there.

Among PepBoys technicians appeared the vehicle around and named me by having an estimation of fix. The technician stated that an item had come off the street and had set a pit within the radiator which it required a brand new radiator. The price: $250 plus work and fluids. Plus, they'd to maneuver the AC condenser which required the work greater. They also suggested changing the tubes.

Complete estimate for that work: nearly $500.

Listed Here Is where the alarm bells began heading down. I'd simply changed the radiator 6 months before for under $200. I'd likewise changed the tubes after I had place in the radiator. The tubes were completely new.

I told the technician the tubes were completely new and he began to hedge they "were gentle".

I quickly said no for their present to repair the vehicle. They appeared amazed because the vehicle was undrivable (captive industry). I went right down to Casa Grande, got the vehicle on the truck, and settled the $30 analytical cost and remaining.

I acquired the vehicle house and requested a brand new radiator for $140.00. It arrived in on Friday and on Sunday, 1 week later-after the first issue, I visited place the radiator in and unearthed that there is nothing wrong using the radiator!!! The issue was the drain plug have been sheered down! I acquired the component ($2), place in $10 dollars worth of antifreeze, delivered the radiator, and also the vehicle is working good.

why the $500 bill? Perhaps the dog owner has his attention on the new BMW 630i and that I would supply 1/50th of the purchase price. Or, perhaps, he simply likes gouging the customer. I actually donot know.in a company that depends on trust, they're not at all worth trust.

Our advice: move elsewhere. Don't trust them.
