I bought a 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse I was young, it was the first thing under my name and I was screwed over with the diamond advantage plan. I have had the car for 4 years and I am 10,000 dollars upside down on it!!!
I have been trying to trade it in with several dealerships and no one will take it because they can't get the numbers to work with a new car since I have so much negative equity.
I even tried trading it in with Mitsubishi - just to get out of the car thinking that I could get away from the diamond advantage deal and they wouldn't take it!!!
The diamond advantage plan was suppose to combine the better part of leasing and the better part of buying. They tacked on the amount I owed from my previous car but said that when I traded it in the slate would be wiped clean - as long as I traded Mitsubishi.
This is an outrage. I was taken advantage of and now I can't get out of it. My so called lease is up next July and at that I still have a balloon payment to pay. I am screwed if I keep the car and I am screwed if I give it back to them because it will hurt my credit. Can anyone help??? I definitely think we need to get a class action lawsuit filed!
