MMCA is ripping people off with their unethical practice of making people believe they are leasing a vehicle but when the term is complete they have an enormous balloon payment due. Unfortunately I didn't fully understand what I was getting into and it turns out neither did a lot of other people.
At the end of my term I would have ended up paying over $35,000 for a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport ES, this is utterly ridiculous and a rip off. I can't even trade the vehicle in. No other dealerships will work with me because of all the negative equity still owed on this car. After 3yrs of paying I still owe over $19,000.
After 5yrs of paying on this car I still can't own it becaue I will either have to pay the balloon payment in one lump sum, refinance it for another 3 to 4yrs or try to sell it back to Mitsubishi for the balloon payment amount. Either way, I'm out of a vehicle after paying on it for 5yrs. Not fair at all. What a rip off.
I believe there are other Mitsubishi customers out there that may have experience this as well.
