AAMCO Transmissions
Ripoff dishonest users rude

I had a 95 Olds Ciera that I had taken into AAMCO because the gears were shifing hard. There is a free exam on transmissions.

I was then called stating that there is a leak in my transmission and that AAMCO needing to break the seal to look inside. I had informed AAMCO that I ddin't have the money to pay for the expense of breaking the seal. My husband was then told that there will not be a fee and that we should know what the full estimated cost will be. My husband authorized the breaking of the seal because there will be no extra costs.

My husband and I were then told, after breaking the seal, that the we will need another transmission because of other problems and that the cost will be around $1800.00.

I told them to put the transmission back together because we did not have the money. Well, I was then told that we owe AAMCO $500.00 for breaking the seal even though my husband was told that we would not be charged. I was told that we wouldn't be charged the fee if AAMCO replaced the transmission.???

Since my husband and I need two cars due to work, I felt that I was forced to authorize AAMCO to put a rebuilt transmission into my car.

My car was at AAMCO for 4-5 weeks total and I had to use my in-laws truck to go to work. I was finally able to pick up my car after I had paid the $1800.00.
My car wasn't fixed. When I got the car to 65-70mph, the transmission sounded like it was reeving and that it would explode. I had taken my car back to AAMCO 3 times to try to fix the reeving problem. AAMCO kept telling me that it was a simple adjustment.

Finally, I got really upset and demanded that my car to be fixed. Well, AAMCO decided to take a through look at my car and told me that the wrong transmission put into my car.

I asked how long it will be before the correct transmission will be here. I was told that they would have the transmission in a week.

A week passed and my car was not fixed. I called AAMCO and was told that they were still looking for the correct transmission. I was then told that two years ago when Cottman rebuilt my transmission, that they did to it right.???

I had drove my car for almost two years with the transmission that Cottman rebuilt and had no problem until the that time when I took my car to AAMCO.
I then told AAMCO that I was so upset and that I will just trade in my car. I was then offered $1000.00 for my car by the manager at AAMCO. I looked at the guy and told him no because I do not want a car payment.
By the way, I'm a young married woman so I knew then that was I being taken for a ride.

I told him that I want my car. When I was given my car keys, there was barely enough gas in my car to get down the street and there were high unexplained miles on my car plus the frame to my driver side seat belt was broken. I went back into the office at AAMCO and asked them what happened to my car. I was told that they didn't know and then the manager gave me $5.00 for gas!!!

I was soooo upset that I almost cried. Not only that my car wasn't fixed but that I felt violated because someone had used my car for personal!!! My husband contacted the corporate office of AAMCO and got no where. He was told that they will replace the transmission.???!!!

I wind up having to trade my car in because every time I drove my car, I was scared that the car would blow up because of the reeving sound and I was so scared to have my daughter in the car. I now have a car payment and have to work even harder at my job to afford the payments that I felt that I was forced into getting
