Their promotional logo is: "Yes We Can!" but it seems more and more apparent that they certainly cannot.
There are several beefs that I have with this particular Ford dealership, but to save on some room, I will talk about their advertised pricing problem.
Yes, all dealerships are out to make a buck, but I have known many a dealers who correctly advertise their prices, or at least give you the price when you go in to the dealer.
A few months ago, in December, there was a flier that went around to all their old customers (I was one of them) saying that they were selling new Ford Tauruses for $12,995, but that was not the price they promised when I arrived.
When I got to the dealership, I was familiar with them, so I knew that it was important to stand my ground. I asked them about the 05 s that they offered, actually intending to buy one from them. They told me that they were out of stock and that they would have another shipment tomorrow. This was not a problem for me, they had me test drive an 04 SE (the same model except for the year) and I was not disappointed.
During the discussion that I had with the dealer, he kept insisting that an 04 was just as good a deal. I was insistent, and I told him that I was interested in the 05, so to call me when the shipment came in. The shipment came in the next day, long after the time they had told me, and he called me to inform me.
Ultimately, our conversation amounted to him telling me that: "we have the 05 Taurus SE in now, but the price is going to be about $1500 more than the $12995" (that was advertised). I hung up with him very disappointed. He wanted me to make an appointment to look at a telling me that he could DEFINITELY get me an 04 (with about 20,000 miles) SE for about 12,500. I made the appointment, but after finding out that I could buy a better model (an SES rather than an SE—which differences lie in luxury features, but also ANTI-LOCK brakes) at a Ford dealer in Grand Ledge, I never showed.
To make a long story short, I was able to buy a car that had several more features (SES) and was a 2004 (same as what he quoted me on) for a thousand dollars less than they were willing to sell the SE to me, for. I never made anything of the false advertising, because TECHNICALLY if they sold ONE car for that price then they fulfilled the laws of advertising. I do know, after driving through there later that day, they had several 2005 SE s (in their new lot) the day they said they needed a new shipment.
These people are TERRIBLY overpriced. If you buy a car from them, offer them about 2500 less than they are selling for, an ACTUAL decent deal. Also, they go back on their promises, and eventhough you go in there with a car in mind, they WILL try to sell you something else (this happened also with the first car I bought from them).
This is just a warning to people in Kalamazoo. If you plan to buy a car from a Ford dealer, look in the Grand Ledge/Lansing area. You best bet on finding a deal is to go to autos. Msn.com and use their search tools and find a deal that SEELYE would NEVER offer you. THanks.
