I purchased a 2001 VW Beetle, cash, for my daughter on 3/01/05 at their dealership in Tinley Park, Il. I live in Indiana and was told that they would take care of the title transfer due to a recent change of law. I was also told I didn't need a "drive away sticker only my sales receipt. When I found out this wasn't true after over 15 calls and two registered letters to their finance manager I found their Customer Service number on line in Downers Grove, IL.
My daughter and I have spoken to a man named Phil the customer service mgr. And he agreed to send a drive away sticker while they sent for a new title due to some problems with re-assignment.
After 30 days and an expired drive away we called several times more and they said they would send another sticker but the title had not yet come in. Now it has been over a month and a half and the second sticker will expire in 2 days so we began calling again to get some answers.
Since Thursday 3/14/05 we have called 12 times and left messages to call back but now they will not return my calls and I have no title or drive away sticker and am forced to park the car until we do have proof of ownership.
These people are the worst I have ever dealt with and I have been lied to several times during this experience. Calls aren't returned and now I feel I will be forced to retain and attorney and pay more out of pocket expenses to get my title.
