RIPOFF Fraudulent sale of a vehicle without the dealer having ownership of the vehicle or the title

I bought a used truck from this dealership over a month ago. I was told my license plates would be in about two weeks later. When I called back after the third week with no word from them I was told that they did not know why the DMV hadn't sent the title or tags yet.

I personally went to the dealership to talk to my sales rep and informed her that since I was an active duty military member if I did not recieve my tags within one week my temp tags would expire and I would not be able to drive to work or get on base to go to work. Her reply was if I got a ticket, send it to the dealership and they would pay the ticket.

I called back that Monday and they still didn't have the tags and was asked for my phone number again and my sales rep had me send her an e-mail to her personal e-mail account. I did not hear from her again. On Tuesday when my temporary tags expired, I called the dealership around noon and explained my problem and was passed to five different people who kept putting me on hold and passing me to another person. Finally I was told they would call me back and they did not know where the tags were.

I asked my father to go to the dealership that afternoon. He spoke with the finance manager and she finally informed him the dealership did not want to tell us they still did not have ownership of the title for the truck.

There was still money owed to the bank of the previous owner. I was forced to drive up to North Carolina Tuesday night after work to return the truck in exchange for a rental car since the tags on the truck expired that day and I was no longer allowed to drive on base. I then drive back to South Carolina where I live and work in order to go to work on Wednesday. We were promised the tags would be in the following day. I requested to cancel my loan and purchase another vehicle they had the title for. I was informed the dealership would only give me 80% of the truck's worth and treat it as a trade in. I asked how I could trade in a vehicle I did not have ownership of since the dealership did not legally sell me a vehicle they still did not have ownership of the truck themselves. They told us they would call us back and the tags would be in the next day.

My father called the Ft Bragg JAG office and the title magistrate for the county and was informed that the sell of the truck was without a doubt unlawful and the dealership was in the wrong.

Finally on Thursday, I took leave at work and drove up to NC again to see what the dealership was going to do about taking the truck back and refunding me. They claimed they had the tags and I needed to just pick up the truck and they never did anything wrong. Through research, I have also found another lady who is having the same issue with Bryan Honda, it has been three months and she still does not have tags and the dealership still does not have the title for her vehicle.
We have filed several reports on BBB and with the Attorney General and will be filing more until this dealership agrees to refund the money back.
