I bought a Subaru a few months ago and went with HSBC, which has been a nightmare so far, and I don't see it ending.
I bought it from a leinholder, and, after about 20 calls, got at least THREE different stories about how to buy the car&they'll send a check, I'll send a check, they'll send me a check to send the lienholder. This is looking good already. After a couple of months and a lot of shuffling paperwork, we did get the car.
Now the problem is being able to drive the car. The old lienholder sent the title to them a long time ago and, today, over a month later, we still don't have a title or real registration (we have temporary plates for a little while).
So I call them almost daily now to see where the title is and how they intend for me to drive the car which I'm making payments on.
Except they're claiming they never got the title from the old lienholder, which I know is not true because there is a certified mail reciept to prove it! They have it, but won't admit it.
Customer service at this place is a joke. No one seems to know anything about anything. Every person I call tells me a different story—we have the title, we're processing the title, we never got the title, we'll send you the title, we won't send you the title, we'll send the DMV the title (these are all things I've been told, by the way). SO WHERE IS THE TITLE? When I tell them they DO have it, and I can prove it, I instantly get transferred to a manager:
Don't even bother with the "managers"; they either refuse to connect me ("uhm... They'll all gone right now") or I get voicemail, which I'm sure they check once a millenium. One of them won't take messages because she was on vacation over a month ago and never changed her message.
At this point, I'm considering getting another loan to pay off this one so at least I won't have to deal with this anymore, if that's even possible with these idiots.
