Ripoff hiding additional fees, failing to return calls and respond to letter, failure to zero out my account

I purchased a vehicle in year 2000. It was orginally financed through First City Funding who later changed to Drive Financial Services. Everything was going fine with the company until around August when I had got behind on my payment and they refused to work with me. Ms. Joanna Hixson who was helding my account was very rude to the point I asked to speak with her supervisor. She was argumentative and I told her the purpose of my call was to get my account straighten out because I did not want to loose my car. She told me to contact the attorney's office, Love Beal& Nixson in Oklahoma City and to take my payment there, which I did.

On March 11, as I was preparing to take my son to the hospital for surgery when I noticed that my vehicle was not parked in my drive way. My first thought was to call the police then it had dawned on me that it was a possibility that my vehicle could have been repossessed for I had got behind on my payments again. I left the hospital after they wheeled my son into surgery to contact Drive Financial Service. I had additional family members with me and I did not want to alarm them of my situation.

I called Drive Financial Services and spoke with Ms. Hixson who verified that my account was past due and my vehicle had been repossessed. She said that in order for me to get the vehicle back that I had to pay $2059.00. I was very shocked because according to my record I only owed 2 payments plus the current which was not due. I told her that I had the two (2) payments and that I could send them to her that particular day. She said they could not accept partial payment the entire amount must be paid. I asked her why was it so much. She said there are fees that must be paid and your account must be current before we can release your vehicle to you. I asked where is my car located because I have things in there that I need for my job. She refused to provide the name/location of the company, which hindered me from getting my personal items from my car.

As an agreement, I was allowed to pay the money owed on March 31 with conditions that it must be paid through Western Union, which I did. My car was released to me the same day.

The maturity date on my account was Oct. 2004. On Oct. 30, I mailed my last two (2) payments, I thought. On Nov. 2, I called Drive Financial Services and spoke with Alex who said that he was now over my account. He said that my account shows a balance of $452.00 miscellanous fees and $1100 for three (3) payments. I told him that could not be correct because I just sent my last payment two (2) in October. I asked him what was the miscellaneous fees were and he could not give me an explanation. I continued to call him for several months and I wrote two letters to Drive Financial Services requesting an explanation.in November the first letter I sent requesting an explanation along with a copy of my payment ledger. I never recieved an explanation just the payment ledger which was unclear to me.

To date, I have continued to contact Drive and never received a call back. I have been contacted by a "repo" service to serender my vehicle and was advised that Drive has closed my account. Please do not allow yourself to be put in this position. I consider myself to be an educated/professional person who has had some unfortunate events to occur in my personal life. I am not filing frivilous lawsuits or making unrealistic complaints. What I have experience is something that should not be happening to anyone. Companies like Drive Financial Services should be investigated.
