I called on an auto advertised on carmax.com. We spoke to the dealer listed on the ad, Clifford Jeep in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. They informed us they had sent it to their wholesaler, Prime Motors. The price seemed almost too good to be true. So we contacted Prime Motors to verify the price. We spoke to "JR" at Prime Motors. He confirmed the price, $2,995 over the phone.
I went to test drive it today and was ready to purchase it if all seemed ok. Once I expressed interest, the price suddenly went up $1,000. I informed the manager (Enrique) that the price was verified by JR at this location just the night before, and that is the price I was willing to pay today. His response - "there is no JR working here". I asked him to speak to my husband to discuss the situation and he refused.
He was EXTREMELY rude. While even at $3,995 the car was a good deal, I refused to be a victim of their deceptive practices and I want to warn people about this dealer. I inform Enrique that I would report him for deceptive advertising and he said he didn't care and do what I have to do. So I'm doing it.
