Pugmire Isuzu
Ripoff vehicle purchase

My name is Melissa and I am a 23 year old female who would like some consideration taken on a matter where I felt I was a victim in an unfair marketplace practice.

On December 11, I went to Pugmire Isuzu, 1925 Cobb Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060, to purchase a vehicle I saw on one of their internet ads. The web address is www.pugmire.com. This was my very first car buying experience and I was pretty nervous about what would take place.

The vehicle I was interested in purchasing was a 1999 Infiniti QX4 with only 60,000 miles and was advertised as an internet special at a pretty good price. I went in and spoke with the salesman named Sang Kim, test drove the vehicle and was very satisfied with the vehicle. I owned a Nissan Maxima prior to this car buying experience and I was very happy with it because I never had any mechanical problems so I wanted to stay in the Nissan family (Infiniti is made by Nissan).

So Sang and I sat down and I tried to negotiate the price with him a little more but he wouldn't budge so we agreed to the price of $12,993. I put $2,000 down and financed the rest with Chase Manhattan Bank. I was then able to take the car home. Within the first hour of the car being in my possession, the engine started to rev up very high when I would put the car in park position. I immediately took it to my mechanic and he said something was very wrong with the car, it would not pass emissions, and that I needed to take it back immediately.

I followed his advice and I was back at Pugmire Isuzu within the hour that I first left. I went to my salesman, Sang Kim, and I told him that something was very wrong with the car and it had to be taken care of. He understood and said they would take care of it and in the mean time they provided me with a loaner. The next day, they told me the torque converter was bad and they were going to replace it. They ended up having to replace the whole transmission.

Two weeks went by before I was able to get the vehicle I purchased back and the very next morning that it was in my possession the check engine light came on. I called the dealership and spoke with Sang Kim and told him what was going on and he told me to bring the vehicle back up there so they could take care of it. I did and this time they said the O2 sensors were the problem so they had it another 4 days and this time they gave me another loaner to drive while they were correcting the problem.

I got the vehicle back again and the check engine light came on again the very next day it was in my possession. I called and told Sang again and he told me to come back up there and they would take care of it. This time I went to Nalley Infiniti, 1215 Cobb Parkway, Marietta, GA 30062, and had a diagnostic performed on my vehicle. They diagnostic report showed that the transmission had been replaced, the O2 sensors were bad, the knock sensors were bad, and there was also a transmission leak. The O2 sensors were supposed to have been fixed and there should have been no transmission leak whatsoever simply because the entire transmission had been replaced by a new one.

After receiving my diagnostic report, I took it back to Pugmire and told Sang that the O2 sensors were still problematic as well as the knock sensors and transmission leak. He told me that I should not have gotten the diagnostic because they were not all that accurate and they were just trying to get my money. He told me that they would take care of it and they gave me another loaner car in the mean time.

Two more weeks went by before I was able to get my vehicle back. Approximately 20 minutes after I left the dealership, the check engine light came on yet again.By this time I was pretty fed up because the car has been in my name for 1 months but it had not been in my possession for even a full day. Ninety-eight percent of the time it has been at the dealership getting fixed.

This was the last straw, so I called Sang and told him what had happened and that I want out of this vehicle and I wanted my money back. His said he was sorry and that he understood and that he would figure something out and call me back. I went and got another diagnostic at Autozone because they offer the free check engine light help. Their diagnostic report showed the exact same problems as Nalley Infiniti, the O2 sensors and knock sensors. The O2 sensors and knock sensors were not being taken care of as promised to me by Pugmire Isuzu. Therefore, I feel that after a month and a half of not having the car that I am paying for and problems being continuously unresolved I should receive my down payment back and get out of the contract.

I told this to Sang my salesman and he said that the car is mine and it is in my name and I cannot get out of it and that I have to give them one more chance to fix it, if I don't then I have to ride around with a check engine light on. I have already given them too many chances over a period of a month and a half.

This vehicle is obviously a bad investment; it has been from the start and will continue to be. I feel like I have been more than gracious, patient, and kind with this matter and I feel that my kindness has been taken for weakness. I just want out of the contract and my money back, nothing more nothing less. There is no reason that I should be denied this request because that only makes good business sense.

I need someone to give the time and attention I deserve to keep a level playing field in the marketplace. If not, then millions of us young car buyers are put in positions of being taken advantage of, victimized, and misled.in my experience, this is not a fair marketplace and therefore protections should be upheld and made. Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter, it is greatly appreciated.
