Best Buy Here Pay Here, Progessive Car Finance, L.L.C ripoff, Company did not stand behind their promises or their vehicle that they sell. I was told their name says it all "Best Buy Here Pay Here"

I was looking for a second vehicle to use to go back and forth to work with. I found an add in our local newspaper for "Best Buy Here Pay Here". I went and looked at the vehicle that the had. I found a 1997 Ford Explorer on their lot. The asking price was $12k. I thought that was a little high for a 1997, but it had low mileage. I talk to the salesman Gary Davis. I asked him why the vehicle was so pricey. He told me that all their vehicle were higher priced because they only sell the best vehicles. Hince the name "Best". He told me all vehicle go through a extensive mechanical check over before they are ever put on the lots. Gary told me "We only sell the Best, we do not sell bad cars." I then asked about the down payment. I was told it would be $2,000. I then asked if we could work around that. He said it probably could be arranged if I had good credit.

I have perfect credit, or did until I met "Best Buy Here", so the down payment was reduced to $1,400. I had to pay $1,000 that day and the other $400 was set up in two installments. So Gary had all the paper work ready for me to sign. I paid the $1,000 and signed the papers. (This was a Saturday, and no insurance place was open so I could not drive the vehicle home this day). I went to pick up my new vehicle that following Monday evening, one hour before they closed for the day, and was on my way home when I heard a loud grinding noise and vibration in the steering. I called them but they had already left for the day, so I called the first thing the next morning. I was told to bring it back and they would look at it. I took it back and the Sales Manager test drove it. Sales Manager Randy Taylor, said that he did hear the noise also. Randy then asked me to take it to their other lot that was about 30 miles away in a nearby town. I took it their and left it to be repaired. I went back the next day and picked it up. On the way home it still had the same noise. I called Randy back and he wanted to see it again. He talked to the mechanics that fixed it, they told him the grease would have to work its way down into the wheel bearing that they said they put in. He told me to drive it for a week and the grease will work its way into the wheel bearings.

It only got worse. I took it back to him after that week. I told him the noise was worse, and asked him if he could trade for me another vehicle. Randy told me " We do not trade for other vehicle here, we make the one you bought right". So once again he asked me to take it back to the other lot 30 miles away and leave it. It stayed there for a week, meanwhile I had to pay my first $200 installment on the down payment. I haven't even got to drive my new vehicle but I had to keep the payments up. I finally had to go pick my vehicle up after they had it a week, instead of putting new part on my vehicle, they purchased them from a junk yard. They were putting used wheel bearings and cv axels on my vehicle. I was driving down the interstate after I picked up my vehicle again, and guess what, the same noise and grinding was still happening. I took it straight to Randy. He drove it again and said, "yes the noise and grinding is still there". Then he asked me, "You really don't want this vehicle back do you?" And of course I said no. I really did feel like paying my hard earned money for a vehicle that was not driveable. He told me to leave my vehicle there with him and he will talk to his boss the next day. He called me the next day and his boss told him, after she drove it, that she could not find nothing wrong with it. He told me that my options were to take the vehicle or leave it default the contract. I told him I did not want the vehicle. They were not going to help me any further. I didn't even get to finish paying the down payment. They sent me a letter stating that they were going to sell it at a local Auto Auction and that I would be resposible for what they did not get out of it at he auction. They did take it to the auction and sent me another letter stating that I owed them $8,168.47. If I did not respond to the letter they would have to take legal action.
