I went to this restaurant on a Thursday night and spent $49.15 on a meal for two people. The server informed me that they were having a credit card machine problem and that I would have to wait until they resolved it. I had no problem waiting 20 minutes for the credit card slip to be handed to me and I tipped 15%- $7.50.
The following Monday I was reviewing my online banking statement and noticed two transactions from Cafe do Brazil, each for $49.15. There should have been one transaction for $46.65 (meals tip.)
I called the establishment and eventually reached the owner of the business. She took my credit card number down so that she could void one of the transactions. She said that she would call me back by 5 o'clock that day to let me know that everything was handled.
The owner called after 6 o'clock Monday evening and said that she voided one of the $49.15 transactions and ran another transaction for $7.50 for the tip.
Two days later, I was reviewing my online statement to see that one of the transactions had been voided or a credit given to me. There was no credit given and another transaction had been run through for $7.50. The $7.50 was for the tip.
As a result of this, I had to call my credit card company and go through a formal dispute for the $49.15.
This restaurant was promoted in the Oklahoma Gazette and the food was good. However, I am appalled by the professionalism and questionable ethics demonstrated by the owner of this business.
I will never eat there again and caution all people before eating there...
