PNC Bank approached me as a friendly local bank willing to help small business people like me. They introduced me to their merchant credit card service salesman: Jeff Gregoris. I listened to the pitch and signed a contract without reading it (my fault) because it was the size of a book and would have taken a week to read. This was a "gotcha" deal. He assured me that there were no fees involved other than the ones we discussed. He's a liar. I was charged an annual "data processing compliance fee" of $99.95 by their processor Firstdata Corp. When I inquired about it, every person I talked to had a different explanation. They were all lies except for one. One lady let it slip that "the salesmen don't always disclose this fee". Also, if you complain about the fee soon enough, sometimes they will waive it or part of it. What a business model.
