Citifinancial acquired Associates, after we had to file bankruptcy, Ch. 13 in 1999, due to my husbands being laid off after 29 years. My husband's truck was financed with Associates, and payments were being made to them through the Chapter 13 trustee.
It was only upon receiving payment statements from our trustee that I saw payments were being made to CitiFinancial for our truck. That was the only clue we had that they had acquired our loan from Associates. Of course, since pymts were being made, we did not think to worry, especially since this was being made through a legal avenue.
After completing our agreement, and being discharged in June receiving our documents showing zero balances in all for our debts, we received our title right away for the car we had financed through our state credit bureau.
SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I finally attempted to contact CitiFinancial after having been told by the local office that they had a different computer program than Associates had, and could not locate ANY INFORMATION AT ALL on our truck loan.
I was finally instructed to call the Recovery Department in Owings Mills, Maryland to request our title. When I attemtped to speak to a woman there, she was very rude and nasty, stating that my name WAS NOT ON THE LOAN, AND MY HUSBAND WOULD HAVE TO COME HOME AND CALL HER HIMSELF. (my name was originally on that loan!).
This "person" stated that they "closed" at 3:00 eastern time. I tried to explain that my husband gets off work at 4:00 P.M. And gets home at 4:30. She stated "we are here until 5:00 P.M.".
At this point I asked if he would be able to call her there, and she said "NO, WE CLOSE AT 3:00!!". So, I asked if she might call my husband then before she left at 5:00, and she responded with a very rude "NO. I dont call people". So, what the significance of her being there until 5:00 every evening was supposed to be, is beyond me.
She then stated that my husband needed to call on his lunch hour, and I attempted to explain that he works out in the county, and has no access to a phone.
They just eat their lunch at whatever job site they are at, and then continue to work. SHE THEN STATED THAT IF IT WAS IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO HIM, HE WOULD GO TO THE OFFICE AND CALL HER!!!
When I tried to explain that he could not just jump in the county truck and leave a work site to go all the way back in and make a personal phone call, she said that was just too bad! She then told me that he could FAX her a letter giving her permission to speak to ME, but then EVERY TIME I tried to ask what Fax# and Name to deliver the fax to, she would CUT ME OFF, AND SAY SHE COULD NOT SPEAK TO ME, BECAUSE MY NAME WAS NOT ON THE ACCOUNT!!!
I requested to speak to her supervisor, at which time she claimed their were no supervisors there! I persisted, and she finally said "hold on", stuck me on hold, and. You guessed it... Sent me NOWHERE!!!
I hung up, called back, requested to speak to a supervisor in the recovery department, was transferred to that dept, and was told by the person who answered that "she" was the supervisor, and had witnessed the conversation I had with "her employer" (convenient... No?), and that her employer was right, they could not discuss the account with me.
At this time, I told her that if she "was monitoring her employee" then she heard how rude and nasty her employee was, and how she would not even allow me to ask for a fax# or other pertinent info to send the fax to. She gave me a phone number, citing it as the Fax # to that dept, and said to take the letter to Kinkos and have them fax it.
We have no Kinkos... But, I took the letter to Office Max who made several attempts to fax to the number she had given, (and yes, I read the number back to the "supervisor" to assure I had written the correct number), and it was not a good number. She had deliberately given me a wrong number!!!
I then bought a FAX machine for my home, went home, hooked it up, called the local office again, and a polite gentleman there proceeded to give me the fax number for the department I had spoken to in Owings Mills. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NUMBER! NOTHING EVEN SIMILAR TO THE FIRST!!!
Anyway, I have faxed to that number, I have contacted our bankruptcy atty, and they have even mailed letters to CitiFinancial, and STILL NO TITLE, NO CORRESPONDENCE AT ALL FROM THOSE RUDE, NASTY CROOKS!!!
Where do I turn next??? These rude, arrogant, DISHONEST people are holding my husbands truck HOSTAGE, AND IT IS 13 YEARS OLD AT THAT! WHAT GOOD IS OUR TITLE DOING THEM?
I'm beginning to believe that no one with this company, especially in that department, has enough education to take care of this situation!!!
I will never, never, never knowingly do business with these crooks, even if they would finance us!!!
