We've had our mortgage at Citibank for years. We didn't choose them, it was sold to them. On 11/16 we refinanced with a local credit union. I started receiving notices saying that I missed a payment from Citibank. I could never click the link and get where I needed to go on the Internet, and, because of some health issues, was too busy to bother with it because I knew I wasn't late.
Finally on 1/2 I called to say that there must be some mistake. That funds were wire transferred to pay off my mortgage on 11/16. It took about 17 different phone calls where I'd be greeted by someone in India or the Philippines, South Dakota, Arizona, over a 30 day period.
I asked the one friendly, knowledgeable, helpful person that I spoke with if I could have his direct line so that we could clear it all up. He said that he couldn't tell me why, but that he wasn't allowed to do that.
If they would've just tried to be objectionable, they would've been able to see very early on that they, Citibank, posted the pay off to someone elses account. They spent so much time trying to make it my new banks problem. Citibank wouldn't even pick up the phone and call my bank to get direct information. I gave them all the names and numbers.
I will NEVER do any business with Citibank/Citimortgage and I'll make sure to tell anyone who is interested what a horrible company they are!
Look at what the bail out got you! Another shit company that doesn't even know it has another hand, much less what that other hand is doing. IDIOTS! I should be compensated for my time, faxes, phone calls. Not even an apology was given.
