I applied for a credit card online from a legit bank, and was turned down. Evidently, they sold my info to Everest Consumer Services, and a number of other companies. A few days later, I was contacted by Ms. Leslie Lucas of Everest.
Ms Lucas (I doubt that's her real name) told me I had been approved for a Master Card with a $2300 credit limit. She told me there would be a one time fee of $299 for processing. She then asked for my checking account number, which I was reluctant to reveal. I was anxious to get a card, so I let her talk me into it. This was early May
I was told it would take six to twelve business days to get the card. When the card didn't come, I called their customer svc. Number. I was then told it would be four to six weeks.
Six weeks passed and still no card. A day or so after I allowed myself to be taken in by these people, I checked consumer complaints.
There was no info about this company at that time. I checked again today, 6/26/04, and there are complaints, all within the last couple of weeks. They must be new.
