I thought this only happened to me until I went on-line and typed in Everest Consumer Services and to my surprise, I found that I was one of thousands of clients ripped off by this same company. My story is similar to all others. I too have bad credit and was offered a credit card with a 2400 limit and a 300.00 one time membership fee. I was told that I could cancel this within 72hrs of the date I was given which was 9/30/04. I called Everest 9/21/04 cancelled this, was given a cancellation number and thought this mess was over and done with since nothing had occurred on my banking account 9/30/04 the day of the scheduled withdrawal. It wasn't until 10/5/04 when I checked my account online that I discovered 299.00 (not 300) was
taken from my account. I contacted a Netchex and a recorded message of a conversation I had with Everest was played back to me, however, it does not state what Everest promised, nor did I hear a recorded conversation of my cancellation of this fraudelent credit card. I now know that I am just another victim and I plan to join the others to shut this company down!!!
