I received this letter in the mail concerning taking out a college plan and that there would be meeting at the Holiday Inn in Bossier City, LA I called the number on the letter and set up an appointment for my daughter and myself to attend. We went and signed up for the college funding program I put $100.00 downs in order to get the financing for the balance which would be paid off in 12months and durning that year my daughter would be receiving information from different colleges around the states.
For the first 4mos we did receive information for my daughter to fill out and then the materials just stopped coming. So in June I called the company that I was sending my payments to by via Western Union only for them to tell me that College Funding has gone out of business and that there was no forwarding address or phone to be giving. I told her that I never received anything telling me that the company was going out of business. I what should I do about all the monies that I have paid in she informed me that I would probally need to contact an attorney in order to get my money back.
I called that number that I had and that number was disconnected so I called the BBB in the Metro-Dallas/Texas and the New Orleans BBB as well as the BBB in Wisconsin which is where the finance company was located that my payments was being forwarded. All they could tell me was that I needed to contact the Attorney Generals office in Texas which I did and all I got was an answering machine telling me that if I had a complaint that I needed to leave my information and that they would mail me the forms that I need to fill out and then return them.
But as far as all that no-one was helpful into helping me locate this company and that since they was no longer in business that it would not do any good to file a report. So I am writing to you in hopes to resolve this matter I have all the numbers and addresses to this College Funding Program as well as names that has signed the contract in order for my daughter to gets this college funding. So yes I am very upset to the fact that I have paid in all this money and nothing to show for it except for maybe not getting it back and this is a part of my daughters college.
Yes I would be very interested in talking to a reporter or anyone that I thing that would help and other parents to regain their finances back that has been contributed this there childrens college.
