Unfair treatment - Citibank Mastercard

I recently purchased, or thought I purchaed, airline tickets to Puerto Vallarta from Volaris Airline on the internet. Immediately after purchasing the tickets, I received a call from Citibank fraud department wanting to know if I had possession of my credit card and if I had just made a purchase of airline tickets on Volaris. I responded that I had. I was informed that the charge had been declined. I said I wanted the charge to go through and that I wanted the tickets. After a few days of not receiving a confirmation e-mail from Volaris I called Citibank to see if the charge had gone through and was told it had not. I went back on to the airline web site and the tickets had now doubled in price. I called Citibank and informed them of the situation. After talking with several customer service reps they finally said they would split the difference in the price of the tickets and give me 5000 airmiles. Their error cost me an additional $120 dollars plus the interest they will receive on the purchase. All they had to do when the fraud dept. Called me was tell me to go back on line and purchase the tickets again and the charge would go through.

Incidentally, several months prior to this I purchased tickets from the same airline and the charge went through without any problem.

I have been a Citibank customer for over 18 years, always paying my bill on time. They certainly do not treat loyal customers very well!
