Reading through all of these reports on Emerge blows my mind. I thought that I was the only one. This is ridiculous!

Emerge Master card has ruined my credit! I constantly receive extra finance charges in addition to the normal "Periodic Finance Charge", Late payment fees of $35.00 for payments that were not late, then those fees put me over my spending limit, and I get hit with more $35 fees for being over my limit every month in addition to the Periodic finance charge.

Providian was the first credit card I ever had (What a mistake!), and I had never had a late payment, and always paid more than my minimum payment. As a matter of fact, everytime I turned around, Providian was calling me to increase my limit.

Next thing I knew, my account was sold to Emerge and I had an interest rate of 29.97%. I argued with Providian customer service that I had not agreed to have them sell my account, so therefore should not be liable to any debt to Emerge considering the fact that I had not signed any contract with that company. I was told to pay more attention to the fine print.

Like so many others, I also called the so called "customer service" department to ask what was happening with my account. After sitting on hold for 45 min. On a long distance international call I finally spoke with a rep that had such a heavy accent I could barely understand the few things they did have to say. I asked about having the interest rate lowered because of my excellent payment history and the rep actually laughed.

What type of customer service is that? I couldn't belive it. Then I asked to speak to a manager and I was told NO, then the phone disconnected.

I called back over and over and demanded to speak to a manager and getting comments back such as,

"There isn't one available",

"I don't have to let you talk to a Manager",

Being placed on hold & then being conveniently disconnected,

Once I even spoke to an individual who said they were a Manager, but when I continually hounded them regarding my account and they finally admitted that they were not a Manager, and that there just weren't any there at the time, and there was nothing he could do for me except wait 6 months until they reviewed my payment history and they would note in their comment section that I was requesting a lower interest rate.

This is a load of crap! I am amazed that they haven't been shut down by now. If anything does come about in regards to a lawsuit, contact me, I would be more than willing to tell my story!
