James Hunter, a collection agent with Vengroff, Williams & Associates, Inc. Started calling our office in late April to collect on a bill that we have paid. The bill in question is dated Feb-28-11, net 30 days. We paid it in March, the check cleared the bank the first week of April. Why it was turned over to a collection agency in the first place is a mystery. When I called the billing company, Cincinnati Bell Technology, the woman I spoke to confirmed we had paid the bill, and was also confused as to why we were receiving phone calls.
The calls are obnoxious and threatening. One of his comments " if you weren't deadbeats and paid your bills, I wouldn't be calling". Since we've paid the bill, this is ludicrous. He's now advanced to letters, "Whether through carelessness, indifference or deliberate disregard you have not..."
This type of harrassment is ILLEGAL.
The letters have a return address of Sarasota, FL but his phone number is for California. Guess being on two coasts make it harder to him track down.
