We were contacted by Money Tree after filling out a pre-qualifying application on line. We were told we qualified for an FHA loan of $50,000 with no down payment and no closing costs. To start the application we needed to send a $300.00 application fee. We were not looking for that amount of money, told this person that, and was then told that the $50,000 minimum rule did not apply to FHA Loans. We did not give them an answer right away. We did some research and made a list of questions to ask the first man to contact us, (Ron Massey).
Mr. Massey answered all of my questions with the answers I wanted to hear, including that if somewhere down the line that they pulled out on the loan we would get our application fee back. He also let us only wire $284.00 to them, since our bank charged $16.00 to do the transaction. The only way we would not get it back was if we did not go through with the loan process or do what they asked. We did everything asked and did not back out in any way. After almost three months and after already going to contract as we were told to do by Stephanie Mitchell, the underwriter, we were passed on to Tiwania Young, a Processor and then told that we did not qualify because my husband had recently became self employed and did not have a credit score.
All of these things were discussed from the beginning and we were assured that these things were not a problem. Any problems they did have we fixed as they asked. We then asked when we could expect our refund and were told that since we did not close on the house that we did not get it. We now can not reach anyone with Money Tree Mortgage. Since we used their routing number to wire money to them instead of them getting ours, (we only have a savings account), getting our money back is going to be a bit more difficult.
Don't give Money Tree any money!!!
