My name is scott and for the last 1 1/2 years give or take I have been helping consumers on a volunteer basis fight this scam collection agency called Camco.
Camco collects on time barred debts. These debts are always past the legal age to sue you on and any threats to do so are also illegal. They simply cannot and will not file suit against you.
Camco likes to threaten your credit report and will say if you do not pay they will ruin your credit. Bad debts can only stay on your credit report for 7 years and buying the debt does not allow them to report it for another 7 years as they may tell you. It is illegal for them to threaten your credit.
Camco will threaten you with criminal charges stating you ran up the debt to defraud the original creditor and if you do not pay they will file charges against you. Horsecrap. They can do nothing and the threats are illegal.
NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER give out your bank account information. They have been known to drain every last dollar out of your account.in fact, there is no reason to ever pay them a single dime. They cannot sue. They cannot ruin your credit. They cannot do anything - PERIOD.
What can you do as a victim?
If they have threatened your credit, legal action, criminal action, violence, or used profane languages the best thing for you to do is file a complaint. Granted, the FTC and the State of Illinois are at this moment choosing to look the other way but if enough complaints are filed they will have to do something someday. You may also use a search engine like google to find your attorney general to file complaints. Use the links below ONLY if abused. Filing a complaint simply because they called is not justified.

How do I get rid of Camco for good?
It is simple really. You need to send them a cease and desist letter certified mail return receipt stating they must cease and desist all communication which includes phone and mail. NEVER sign anything. Just type it out. I have helped over 1300 people fight Camco and if you need a free letter email me at [email protected] with your state, type of debt, age of debt, and was this yours or BKED or fraudulent.
Remember Camco likes to collected on previously BKed debts so if this is the case seek an attorney as this is a federal crime.
What if they do not stop or I am really angry?
Some states allow you to tape a conversation without letting them know. This is called a one party state. Some states require their permission which of course they will not allow and this is called a two party consent state. Remember the state where the call is coming into is the state whose taping laws go into affect. Here is a link to look up your state.

Most attorneys will require proof of camcos fdcpa abuses before they will agree to sue. Camco gets sued pretty much every day and loses all the cases. Most of the time they settle out of court because of the expense involved and the knowledge that they most certainly did break FDCPA rules. They will take your case on contingency so it cost you nothing.
Camco collects on fear, indimidation, and moral abuse. The next time they talk about the morality of paying bills ask them about the morality of threatening a woman with rape if she did not pay or telling a person to back off or they will kill their entire family (happened to me). You owe them nothing so pay them nothing.
