On September 1, I got an unsolicited e-mail from Money Tree Mortgage. Since my husband and I had to file bankruptcy do to a failed small business, I decided Money Tree could help with the financing of our new home. The e-mail said we were PRE-APPROVED.
I filled out the on-line application, and the next day I got a call from James Derry at the Kansas office. He was"so helpful". I explained about the Bankruptcy, and he said no problem, we already have a lender ready to give you loan. I told him my husband and I would discuss it. James Derry called every night for three weeks. On the last call, we decided to go ahead with the loan. James said he needed $300.00. I gave him the ABA and account information, and asked him not to withdraw the money until the following week. NOT A PROBLEM, I was told.
I went to the bank the following morning to get money for grocery shopping, and I had had the money deducted that morning. My family had to rely on relatives to help feed us that week because of what money tree mortgage did.
When I called the company to find out about it, all I got were run-arounds, and answering machines. I was told the only person that could help me was "BUSY". Leave a message, she will call you back. I still have not heard from any one from Money Tree Mortgage.
We chose not to send the application back in because we don't believe we can trust what Money Tree tells us. I still call on a daily basis trying to get my $300 dollars back, but I am afraid that is a lost cause.
When I talked to one of the receptionists on 10/27, I asked her how it felt to work for a company that SCAMS people, Her response: (and I quote)" I really wouldn't call it a scam, we just collect money". How is that for a company employee.
