My husband and I pur chase d our first home in April. Everything was fine until May when we got a statement from Chase stating that our house payment was going up $300 a month because our Escrow balance was too low. Chase had completely ignored the tax forms that our attorney had sent them and tried to charge us for taxes on 28 acres of land, when we only owned 1/4 of an acre. I had to spend the day with my attorney trying to get this straightened out.in July I received my tax bill in the mail. As a courtesy I called Chase and asked if they had gotten their copy yet and they said no, they would like me to send them a copy of it. So I did, and they paid it on July 30th. Two weeks later I received another Escrow Analysis stating that my payment was going up $53 a month because my Escrow account was negative $636. My husband called this time and discovered that they had paid my taxes on July 30th, and they were scheduled to pay them AGAIN August 17th! They got "confused" because I had faxed them a copy of my bill... When they asked me to! How stupid can you be? He was on the phone for over an hour explaining to the woman that they were only to pay the taxes once... Not twice within 3 weeks of each other! We thought the issue was resolved and they promised not to make the 2nd payment on the 17th, but they lied... They mailed a check for $636 on August 17th to my county. Again I got another statement saying that my payment was going up again... So again I called and spent over an hour speaking to 6 different people who were very rude and defensive. Of course they couldn't be wrong, they are NEVER wrong... Bull crap!!! That is their first mistake, they need to learn that they can make mistakes and they do... Frequently! I was pushed through to 6 different supervisors, representatives and tax people, and finally I said "How is it that my Escrow account is negative the exact amount of my tax bill? Don't you find that odd?" And the representative realized that they had made the mistake and mailed a second payment to my county for my taxes. She then had to put me through to yet another representative because she had been so rude to me insisting that I was wrong that she couldn't handle knowing they had made the mistake. The next lady acted insulted that I didn't want to pay the extra $53 on my bill for that month when they had made the mistake. She said that they would have to open a 14 day work order to try to get my money back... Like it was an inconvenience for them. Well I'm sorry but having my mortgage through Chase has been nothing but an inconvenience for me. I refuse to pay for some idiot's mistake in their tax department. I have a fixed rate, I should not have to guess every time I get a bill in the mail how much my house payment is going to be this month! I am beyond mad! I have already looked into refinancing through another bank because I am so disgusted with this company. I send them emails and they just respond with computer-generated "canned" language so I know they aren't reading my complaints... And if they are they haven't made any strides to correct their ways. It amazes me that we have good, hard-working people trying to get a job and then we have idiots like this making a ton of money that they do not deserve. I will NEVER use them again if I can help it!!!
