I am trying to find any Maryland-based class action lawsuits to join against OCWEN.
My ex and I bought a house in 1990 at $85,000. I moved out in 1994 and never removed my name from the deed. Stupid, I know.
Well, ex abandoned the property, filed bankruptcy and now OCWEN is coming after me for the loan now at $140,000.
The house is in a decaying state. I had it appraised to determine the worth. The high-end was $62,000.
OCWEN refused to tell me any "deals" that transpired with the ex over the years. They refuse to explain any of the charges causing the balance to be at $140,000.
While I was filing bankruptcy papers, they were trying to foreclose on the property, which would have been an illegal sale.
Because I did not qualify for bankruptcy, OCWEN gave me a choice: let the house foreclose and I could pay the remaining balance from the sale of the house (they were going to start the bid at $82,500. I would then be responsible for the extra $60,000) OR go into a forebearance agreement. I would pay them a total of $6000 over the next 6 months with no explanation of where the money is going. They would then let the loan restore back to a current state.
Because they told me that I had less then 24 hours to make a decision or else, I chose the forebearance agreement based out of frustration and fear.
Now, OCWEN refuses to return any of my calls.
Of course, the ex is living large because he has no ties and I am left cleaning up after him.
