Ripoff taking up to 5 days to post payments and charging late fees which they do not refund EVER!

I have to agree with all the other complaints about Fifth Third Banks Customer Service and their unethical Business practices.

I have an Auto Lease with this Bank and they admit to take up to 5 days to post payments to accounts. When late charges are incurred, which in my case is $35.00, they never EVER will refund them. I have called their Customer Service Dept more than once about this problem, but the most recent was yesterday, and I asked if my payment was processed on the day received? The gal at first said "Well we receive 50,000 payments a day and yours is posted when we get to it." So I explained to her that I have another Auto Lease also in Cincinnati which does post my payment on the day received or at least in a timely manner and they always post it 4 to 5 days earlier (I send these payments on the same day every month).

Well her expanation on that matter was to try to talk me into another method of payment that their bank offers, which will debit my checking account directly for a FEE! That way I would not have the problem of relying on the mail. I explained that I was not blaming the mail, I was blaming their Processing Dept. For the delay. I asked if my late charge could be refunded, well here comes the speal again about other methods of payments offered. I explained that I did not want to use their other methods

I just want my late charge refunded since they are taking so long to post my payments. To me this would be good Customer Relations since she just told me that the 5 day grace is so they can have time to post it. Well then her story changed and she tried to say that she never said that it could take 5 days to post my payment, she started to argue with me so I asked for her supervisor.

I was put on hold, for long enough for her to fill in her supervisor on the situation prior to transferring me and he also just argued with me and refused to refund my service charge. I told him I will never do business with them again and hung up.

I have tried to file a complaint with a higher up, but the website does not give e-mail addresses of anyone, you have to use their complaint form, which I did. I can almost guarantee that I will never hear from them about this. I have never had late charges on any of my other payments unless it was my own fault, which I do not argue with, but these people have gotten me 3 times and I have only had this Lease for 1 year.

I think that this kind of practice should be illegal, is there no law that states that payments need to be processed within a certain time frame? If they can not post on the day received they should effective date them to the date received. I have contacted the Govenor of my state to try to get a law passed (if there is not one already) that would force these people that take there sweet time in posting payments, just to collect late charges, to post them within a certain time frame. I am trying to figure out who I can report this kind of activity to, I will keep looking.

Can't wait until the end of my lease, after reading the other horror stories!
