On June 11, I applied for a home equity loan with Washington Mutual. I was declined due to a poor credit report (score 609). I was confused, since the last credit report for my wife and I when we obtained your loan a few months ago was 750.

The senior loan officer informed me that it was due to 2-30 day late pays and a 60-day late pay on my mortgage. I informed them that I have automatic withdrawal on my mortgage that late payment was impossible. Your mistake of reporting late pays to credit bureaus was irresponsible and caused me to be declined the loan, as well as embarrassment and humiliation.

On June 11, I returned home from the bank at 2:45 P.M. And called HomEq immediately. I spoke with Julie. She took my information but needed a supervisor. None was available. I left number for a return call.

On June 12, I called HomEq at 8:15 A.M. And spoke with Nancy. She took my information again and started to tell me things I would need to do to correct the problem. I told her that this was not MY problem, it was HOMEQS problem, but that it was affecting me and I would make this one attempt to resolve it with your company. She asked me to just send a fax attention to credit bureau reporting telling them of the error and to correct it. She assured me that I would have to do nothing else.

On June 12, I returned a call to Daryl of HomEq at 3:30 P.M. He had called to resolve the issue of HomEq neglecting to withdraw the mortgage payments as authorized. I agreed, as the money had been available in my account all along. He wanted to do a check by phone to resolve the outstanding balance, which was fine. I called home and got the necessary information. The amount he quoted was $7,284.69. I told him I had figured $7,281.69. He replied there was a $3 charge for check by phone! I was irate! He immediately saw the insanity of his comment and felt that a supervisor could waive the charge.

I told him that I was very unhappy with how this had been handled, and expected the erroneous reporting to be cleared immediately. He said that, My supervisor will clear any negative credit report. I also asked to receive an e-mail confirmation when the credit bureaus had been notified of the error. He said I would get that within two business days. I still have not received any notification.

On June 18, I called HomEq to verify that everything has been taken care of and spoke with Rey. She transferred me to Eddie. He informed me that everything had been taken care of at our end; weve notified the credit bureaus that they were our errors.

On June 19, I called HomEq to request a letter to me informing me of the error on HomEqs part something that I could show the bank. I spoke with Roxanne, who transferred me to Terrance. He told me that the error was reported to the credit bureaus on June 16th. I asked him for a confirmation of that in writing as well as the letter stating HomEqs error. I gave him my Fax number and e-mail address. He said he would take care of it.

When I got home from work on June 19, your letter of June 13 had arrived. This form letter, with your demand that I furnish you my credit report within ten days so that you could complete your research, just about sent me over the edge.

I hope that you will take a personal interest in repairing the damage you have caused with no further intervention on my part. If necessary, I will seek legal counsel and recovery of any damages due to me from your continued inability or unwillingness to do so.

My Credit Report was finally cleared, and now my statement shows an "advance" of $330 that HomEq has changed me! I am in the process of finding out why. This company is A RIP OFF!
