I, too, had problems when my providian aria visa was suddenly converted to an emerge card. There was no warning that the payment address. Etc had changed.
Of course, as soon as I was notified that Providian was going to hike my interest rate from the already obscene 23.99 percent to 29.99 percent (a 25 percent jump!), I immediately closed the account. That is why I am still paying the 23.99 rate even though it is not great, it is better than almost 30 percent.
If you try to make a telephone payment they charge you almost $10. This is ridiculous.
Providian did the same thing, only worse, wtih my visa account. They transferred that one to a service company in Bethpage, new York with virtually no online help. I finally did get someone after about 20 tries and their old customer service phone number, printed on the card, didn't even work. You don't just do these things to people!
