I am glad I have found this website and see so many others have had the same difficulties I have had this past month.
As the rest of the reports state, I mailed a payoff check to the address on my June statement in Beaverton, Oregon. I tried to call and verify the payment was received and the number was disconnected and reffered me to a long distance number in New York. You cannot speak to anyone at the number and are referred to an address to write to.
My payment was mailed June 23rd. It was due July 5th. It was finally posted on July 17th with a $35.00 late fee. I sent a letter to FCNB's billing errors address in Portland (as it states on the back of the statement) with "Return Service Requested". The Postal Service then confirmed that mail sent there is being forwarded to New York now.
FCNB appearently went out of business and/or vanished but no notice was given to us consumers on where to mail payments to. It is not fair, and just plain fraudulent to charge us late fees when they have never notified us that the address has changed.
We all know now what they have done and are doing... Now I need help knowing where do we go from here? Who helps us when this is clearly not just one or two bitter consumers but honest people being ripped off.
