Complaint / Review
First Consumers National Bank
Ripoff outlandish ripoff late fees

I received my FCNB Mastercard statement on July 12th. Like many of you, I was assessed a $35 late fee, when I had mailed my payment (to the usual payment address located in Portland, Oregon) 2 weeks before the due date, just like I always do.

I checked with my bank and found that the payment had posted well past the due date. Why they would sit on on the payment, I had no idea (until I found this website!)

BUT... Here's the interesting (and I'm told, illegal) part:

At the bottom of my statement, it says "Servicing for your First Consumers National Bank credit card account has been transfered to First National Bank of Omaha effective June 30".

The statement is dated July 6th, I received it on the 12th, so they notified me after the fact that the account was transfered to a new bank. I am told that whenever a credit account is transfered to another bank (or in some cases a collection agency) they are required to give you advance notice.

The payment address on my newest statement is a PO BOX in Omaha, so obviously, the payment that I sent to Portland was forwarded there, and then processed late.

I have written letters of complaint to all the addresses I could find (not that it's likely to do any good) and I'll be reporting them to anyone else who will listen.

At any rate, I'm glad to know that it's not just me that getting screwed by this company. Does anybody know how we can get a class action suit started against FCNB?
