Deceptive advertising "free credit report" but fine print attaches to credit monitoring $12.95 month!

I went online for a free credit report a month ago and the first link off Google was creditreport.com so I went to it and thought I was getting a free credit report. Then about three days ago I got my American Express bill and there was a fee for $12.95 that I knew I had not authorized.

Well, as it turns out, this company uses trickery and deceiving advertising to get you rooked into this free trial and then they start monitoring fees on a monthly basis. I called Amex and disputed this charge and it turned out that creditreport.com was already billing for ANOTHER month as well! So I got that disputed too!

I called them at 866-883-3309 and the representative Jim tried his best to sell me all three monitoring credit reports for only $9.95. FINALLY, after five times of saying to him "I want to cancel" he got it and cancelled the charges. He did not offer me a cancellation code. I had to ask for it but he did give it to me. He told me I'll also get an email of the cancellation.

This is outrageous and deceptive for the consumer. I heard on NBC Today Show the other morning that the only government sponsored legitimately FREE report is annual report.com that now comes up as the first link off Google - after the paid ones at the top. That's progress! Yeahhhh
