Ripoff chargeback problems and not closing credit cards - the ALL-HASSLE CARD!

I have had a Capital One card for 8 years. My credit score is very good, around 764. Last year I had a major problem with a company, and I needed to make a charge back (my first ever). The amount was around $550. I followed up with ALL the info the needed to prove that this other company had fraudulently charged me $550. I provided EVERYTHING Capital One needed, MANY times. This led to Capital One give me back my $550 - only to take it away the next month, and then I had to re-submit all my dispute info again. Which led to them giving me back my money - and taking it away again, about 6 times. It turned into a little game with them.

Finally, although I had provided ALL the info they needed, and more, to make this charge back, they flat out denied me my money back, and told me they would no longer allow me to try to charge it back. They sided with the other company - Chrysler - although Chrysler was in the wrong, and I ended up paying money to Chrysler for a job they never completed (they never fixed my car for this $550 and my car broke down on the freeway the day after they supposedly fixed it. But I still had to pay for this because of Capital One.)

Because of this, I decided to close my 8-year-old account. Needless to say, this is not as easy as it sounds, no not with Capital One! They said I had to keep the balance at $0 for 30 days to close the account. So I paid it all off, but little charges kept being added (fees, etc.) Even though I had told them to close it, they were still allowing charges to come though, such as automatic payments I had forgotten to shut down. So I took care of all those, but I still had 30 days to keep the amount at $0.

I did it, I kept it at $0 for 30 days! But then Capital One sent me a new bill - with a DIFFERENT CARD NUMBER which I had not authorized - for $29, saying they had accidentally given me $29 extra a few months ago for something. Perhaps they did, perhaps they didn't. I no longer had my statements from months ago and since I had put in the request to close my account, they no longer let me access my account online.

I just paid that $29. I am willing to bet they will add another little similar fee before my 30 days at $0 are up, or even after those 30 days are over. I have heard many stories similar to mine (both the charge back part and the inability to close the account part) and I am pretty frustrated.

If I do get another suspicious fee from them and have them re-open my account or start a new account for me with a different card number, I am going to have to take my complaints a step further.

They have already lost a great customer, and now I am telling everyone how much they really are the ALL-HASSLE credit card.
