I recently had $1482.32 authorized to be taken out of my account by bank of America. The money was taken out by a mortgage company I do not have an account with. The process to get my money back has been horrific. I was told that there is a 7 to 10 day waitng period for me to get my funds back. Human error on the mortgage companies part has caused my bank account to be overdrawn by almost $400 dollars. I was assured that if and when they prove that I did not authorize the transaction my account would be returned back to it's original status. The people trained to deal with this type of problem read you guidelines from a book it seems and cannot tell you more than what they have been programed to say. There is no reassurance or empathy for the customer. It was and is clear that the transaction is not mine. Did you know that when you write a check B of A does not look at the sequence of the check. The check written was in the 3000's, my checks are not even in the 2000's. I asked the customer service person what regulations protect me? She toldl me its unfortunate but this is how it works. The customer is not protected and you have to fight and go through hell to get your money back. I do not have any money and my bills are due and I'm being told... Ma'am you have to wait 7 to 10 business days to get your money back. I asked her, well, who is going to pay my late charges to my loan company for my families mortgage? Bank of America's policy on unauthorized transactions has some major loop holes. There advertisment for their sufficient service in this department is a lie. When this is over I will bank with another institution. I am very disappointed with how Bank of America has handled this entire situation.
