Like a lot of people, i lost my job last month and was not able to make the car payment on time. I called them to tell them i'd have it paid by the end of the following month. The person i spoke with said it would be ok, and just pay it as agreed. Within 4 days of that call, the phone calls started from them. They use fake phone id's from several cities and a lot of them come from a private name in a 972 area code..
I finally talked to one of there collection supervisors who insisted that the only way i could stop the calls was to give her a check over the phone dated on the planned payment date. Now i don't know about you, but the way i look at it, my giving them a check on an account that does not have enough money in it to cover the check is the same as me writing a bad check. If i write a bad check, i am liable for arrest, a fine, and potential jail time.
I know i will be returning to work and have funds coming in next week, but, i am not about to write them a bad check! In today's economy, companies can change their minds. Promised jobs can go away... But a bad check charge from my bank. Or an arrest does not go away...
I am about 10 months away from paying off these bastards. And i will never do any business with capital one again!!!
