I have trouble with Bank of America and their excessive Overdraft Fees. I was laid off this past October and therefore I have not been able to always maintain a balance which I would like. But, I noticed that BofA instead of returning (1) large item, they will return (5) or (6) smailler items at the tune of $35 each, which starts a huge downward spiral.
Case in point... Last week I had over $200 in Overdraft Fees for (7) small debit card purchases, which were all made with money in my account. On 5/4 a large payment hit my account (which I was not expecting until the following week) and instead of returning that one large dollar item, they charge fees on debit card items purchased as far back as 04/30. Two video rentals made on 05/01 for $1.09 each were charged $35.00 EACH!!!
When I contacted BofA I was simply told that is how their customers prefer them to do business... I cannot believe that is the case at all!
They also explained that if I kept enough money in my account this wouldn't happen... Have they not received bail out money from the government??? This practice is so very frustrating, because unfortunately it has happened to me more than once. Thank you for giving me a place to sound off!!
