False information double reporting unfair late charges

Sears needs to revamp their accounts receivable process. I have gone into the Sears stores to pay on my account prior to the due date on my bill. My next bill has shown the payment to be late, and includes a late charge of $25. This happened a couple of times. The reason that I went physically into the store was to avoid the payment being late in the first place.in calling the credit department, I was advised that the payments made in the stores are not posted for a couple few days. Whose problem is that? It sounds like Sears needs to get into the 21st century and process something as important as payments in an expedient manner. Another thing Sears reports these one or two day late payments (THEIR fault) as 30 days late to the credit agencies.in calling, I was told that was not done, but my credit report states differently.in disputing these late payments with the credit bureaus AND Sears, my request to have the incorrect information removed was denied. Next... My car was broken into, and being that I was worried the thief may have gotten away with my credit account numbers, I contacted my creditors to advise them, have the accounts closed and new account numbers issued. Well, Sears issued me a new number and closed out the other account number, as I requested.in reviewing my credit report, Sears reported the account closed "by request of credit guarantor" which is untrue. Then, they gave me a new account number, and listed the two late payments (which were not actually late) on the new account as well as the old. So... Four payments showing 30-day lates, when there should be none. I have fought this through every avenue available, to no avail. So, here I sit with incorrect information on my credit reports, which has caused serious problems with my recent purchase of a home. Since the "late" payments were recent (as well as incorrect information from Circuit City and MCI), I was forced to get a FHA home loan, which is costing me a great deal of money in interest and mortgage insurance that I am forced to pay. Fraudulent credit reporting destroys people's lives. I have always paid all my bills in a timely manner, and the thanks I receive is to be ruined by these companies. There is nothing I can do but wait and steer clear of credit companies all together. Bridget Carmichael, California
