I have been BanK of America (BoA) customer for a good number of years, have never been late with a payment, have used their financial resources to invest, and have been a good customer in every way except one according to the response I received this morning to an inquiry as to why the BoA was raising my credit card interest rates from:
9.9% to over 19% and
ATM fees to 4% of the amount withdrawn or $10.00 as a minimum amount for fees.
Having been a responsible customer for so mnay years I was inscensed and the reasons given me was that I didn't use my credit card enough even though I have an outstanding balance of $7000.00.. To me this is tantamount to theft of my money. Not only is the BoA using my tax money to be bailed out from poor fiscal transaction, I am penalized yet again for being a customer.
I opted out of the increase of the interest rates meeaning that I can no longer use that card after the effective date. I will be in the process of completely changing my banking to another financial institution. Legalized robbery no matter how one spins these decisions. I wrote every elected officila from President Obama to my state legislators to include all of the major media centers. I will be making noise, enough is enough.
Ross Perot taught me one thing when he made his bid for President. It's my money and I am the boss. So beware of any letters from your banks and credit card companies. You may get stuck with a sharp knife in the back.
