Back in late 1999, I received Merrick Card in the mail. I didn't do anything with it. I never activated it. I never used it period. When I started receiving bills, it was months later. Early 2000. There were charges on the bill for annual fees, service charges, finance charges and the like. I contacted them.
I sent the unused cards back certified mail. I then contacted them after they received them and was assured that it will be off my credit report.
When I purchased a home in July the bank asked about the report on the credit report, I told them that it had been taken care of. I was assured of it.
Just recently I had another credit report taken, it is now showing a balance of well over $1000.00 when I didn't even use it and was supposed to to be off altogether.
They are truly a scam company. I also had the pleasure or should I say displeasure of working for a subsidiary collection company. It was short lived, because they too offer promises and do not come through.
