NCO calls me for someone else's debt!

NCO has been calling me off and on since summer of 2008. FINALLY in February 09, they sent me a bill listing a company called WFNNB/NY & CO. I have never heard of them. I did a Google check on WFNNB etc. Turns out they are a bank that issues store credit cards for Victoria's Secret, Eddie Bauer, Chadwick's, etc. I have never, nor will I ever get a store credit card for any of these companies. I don't even shop at any of these brick and mortar, internet, or catalogue stores.

I ran a credit report on all three bureaus a couple of weeks before receiving NCO's "bill". Believe it or not, all three reports were 100% accurate. None of them list ANY negative items.

I sent NCO a letter (certified mail, return receipt requested) demanding validation of this debt. I specifically asked for an explanation of the debt. I asked them to identify the original creditor, including address and phone number, copies of any papers showing that I agreed to pay, verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable), proof that the statute of limitations had not expired and proof that they are licensed to collect in my state.

They received the letter on February 23. To their credit, they stopped calling ME; however, they are now calling and asking for my HUSBAND by name.

They called Saturday March 14. I answered the phone and heard an automated message stating that this is an attempt to collect a debt, blah, blah, blah. Then the recording mentioned my husband's name. It said, "if you are Joe Blow, press one." Just for giggles and grin I pressed one. I spoke with a real person. She seemed a bit flustered that I was speaking to her instead of my husband. I told her he was not home (he really wasn't) I told her to put the information in writing and send it to my husband. She ignored me and asked for a better phone number. I repeated that he was out and to send the information in writing. She then asked the best time to reach him. I told her that he would NEVER answer the phone for them nor would he ever call them back if they left a message. For the third time, I told her she would have to put it in writing and send it to "Joe's" attention. She got huffy and told me that she did not have to "take orders" from me. Then she told me to "have a good day". I tried to get her to stay on the line because I was having too much fun, but she hung up on me.

If/when they ever put his alleged debt in writing, we will send them another letter. (FYI, "Joe" doesn't have any negative info on his three bureau reports either"
