Do what ever you can possibly do, to avoid Fifth Third Bank, at all costs. They could truly be the worst Bank in America. If you fall behind 30 days, on a loan payment, the Bank automatically turns your account over to a Horrible Collection Company called, Regional Adjustment Bureau, out of Memphis, Tennesee. Back on January 6th I ran just over 30 days late on my December 5th Payment.
I called Fifth Third directly and attempted to make a Telephone Payment to them direct, being I had just reached 30 days late, was directed to contact Regional Adjustment Bureau, who was now handling my account and payments, since it was 30 days late. Let me first say, that I was late due to very difficult times we are presently experiencing, as a contractor, our work dried up.
Well, I called Regional Adjustment Bureau and told them I would like to pay my December 5th payment, to them on the phone. The represenative told me that was fine, but she said to get my account out of collections, I would have to pay the present January 5th Payment now and also the February 5th Payment, in advance, even though the payment was not due for another 29 days. Otherwise, I was told I could not deal with Fifth Third direct, unless payment for February was made right now. I told the rep, I could pay the past due December 5th Payment and the now due January 5th Payment. But, could not pay the next payment. She took my 2 payments, but said I was still in collections with them.
Well, from that day forward, my phone rang every hour, from 8 am til 8 pm, 7 days a week, always from Regional Adjustment Bureau, with the number 800-829-7750 on my caller I.D. With the economy still lagging, now on February 20, my February 5th payment was 14 days late. On that day Regional Adjustment Bureau began telephoning my neighbors, to discuss me. They actually were calling my neighbors every hour for 2 weeks, just like me.
Finally the first neighbor came forward a few nights ago and called me to discuss the situation. How humiliating it was to hear that. Turns out other neighbors were called too. I am still contacting more neighbors to get a total count. My one neighbor said he was awakened over and over again, they called every hour. Here is what the Regional Credit Bureau rep told my neighbor. Do you know%? Is % your neighbor? Do you really know %? Do you know about him? Then the rep in most cases would hang up the phone at that point. Of course everyone has caller I.D. Always the same number 800-829-7750. I called Regional Adjustment and they sent me to the female rep who was handling my case, when I said her company called my neighbors, she said the company did not call my neighbors, she said she called my neighbors, she was proud of it. When I asked about my rights to privacy, she said I gave up those rights, when my account became delinguent.
It is a shame to think that the U.S. Goverment is giving Billions of Dollars to Fifth Third Bank in Bailout Money and this is how they treat a poor working man, who is barely hanging on to his family home. I am already down, but to have my privacy violated by Fifth Third Bank and Regional Adjustment Bureau and share my problems with my neighbors is just disgraceful. I am prepared to sue both Fifth Third Bank and Regional Adjustment Bureau, for their actions.
In the mean time, I sent Regional Adjustment Bureau a email, telling them to Cease and Desist immediately, never to contact my home again. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission against Regional Adjustment and will continue to press this issue, til I get results. I hope others who have experienced similar situations from Fifth Third Bank and their Mobster Leg Braker Affiliate Regional Adjustment Bureau, will speak up too. This company "RAB" should not be allowed to exist. Is this America? Are we not allowed certain rights? As for Fifth Third Bank, they just don't care!!! RUN From Fifth Third Bank, as fast as you can. Take your money out today and put it into a REAL Bank.
