Stole more money from me

Yesterday was not the first time I was ripped off by Wachovia. I had resolved to just be very careful, aware of the unethical way they do their banking, so that I would not have to deal with their non-customer service contacts again. Unfortunately, though, they got me again.

They took out almost $200 dollars from my account for over draft fees when there should have been only one over draft fee. I called and took full responsibility for the one, for it was after all my fault, and I am not, unlike Wachovia, a thief or dishonest person. I meant to use cash at the grocery store, but accidentally because of being in a hurry, by habit used my debit card. I immediately sought to void the transaction and do over, but was told it was too late, the money is automatically taken. Before leaving the house that evening, my on line banking told me the available amount, so I knew everything had cleared. Everything was covered, except this one transaction.

Well, to my surprise, yet not surprise since we are talking about Wachovia, they ended up over drafting five prior purchases (that were accounted for) on top of this one. I called and went through the dates and everything. Clearly you could see where a deposit was made the prior week and posted and then the five purchases after that the last dated 2/13th. The grocery purchase that I messed up on was not made until 2/17th after banking hours. Still, no matter how clear it is that they stole the other money from me, they would not budge. I spoke to a representative and her supervisor. They offered to pacify me with 50% of it returned but no more, explaining there dishonest banking system for justification. I have just read many reports of the same nature as this at Wachovia. When are they going to be stopped? Something needs to be done. I will be going there today to close my accounts and then change banks.

I've been a customer with them for years, have shouldered a lot of patience, not just in this type of situation, but others, such as when they deposited my money in another's account and then charged me for insufficient funds AFTER I had reported that another's money was deposited in my account, because again, I am honest.in other words, they took the money they should not have deposited in my account and took my deposit out of my account. Not a thank you nor an apology. Just a long wait while they had several people clearing up their mess. I'm done, and I sincerely hope something will be done about this so that others aren't victimized by Wachoiva's thievery.
