National City Rewards Card
NCC customer service - NCC Rewards Credit Card

I am executor of my relative's estate. NCC confirmed account was marked that he was recently deceased. They were able to get that information on file from our first phone call. But in regards to the Rewards remaining on the NCC Card, after numerous online, email and phone attempts on different days and times to NCC about their rewards card: I was transferred around customer service, to queue in recovery area without being asked or told I was being transferred, then back to customer service, then to Fraud Dept. And then to someone in Probate Dept. And another in Probate Dept and conveniently disconnected after being on hold. All of this was just one phone call. I made many. Other immediate family members called separately on different days to see if they could reach anyone who would provide an answer. I have the deceased's current statement with less than $10 in rewards earned. They refuse to issue that money. They state "non transferrable" repeatedly. I am not asking it to be transferred. I asked it to be issued to the card holder, the actual card holder by name.

From an earlier call the NCC Rewards card people sent me on a trip to my local NCC bank where they kindly smiled and said they at the bank have no connection whatsoever with the NCC Card.
No other financial institution I dealt with including much more sophisticated and worldly brokerage houses and banks than NCC/PNC gave me this kind of hassle and inconsideration. Not one had the courtesy to even say a 'sorry for your loss'.

One may say it is less than $10 what is the big deal. I see it similarly, what is the big deal NCC for following through on your contract with the card holder and the card holder's power of attorney and executor? Brokerages, Investment firms, banks all release CD's, stocks, and other holdings without penalty to their estate when someone dies. Apparently NCC / PNC is different than most anyone else.
