If you are considering doing business with Debt Settlement USA to settle your credit card debts... PLEASE do yourself a favor and do not use this company.
In fact... I would give you a warning NOT to use any of these types of services!
I will keep this short as my same experience is outlined by other posts in that the only thing they do is send their Power of Attorney document to your creditors and wait for funds to build up so that they can call and settle your debts.
There is no regular contact (letters or phone calls) whatsoever with the creditors to let them know that you are in this program and contributing funds to an account for eventual settlement.in fact, they recommend that you cease all payments to your creditors... HUGE MISTAKE.
The salesperson to whom I trusted mentioned that they have "relationships" with various creditors and that this type of service is recognized as valid. Trust me... The creditors frown on debt settlement companies
To date, three of the four creditors have gone to collection law firms and two of them have actually filed lawsuits. The money that I have built up in the settlement account has now been used to hold back the lawyers while I figure out how to get the creditors paid.
This has turned into a HUGE nightmare as well as the embarassment of having a process server show up at my home!
As it stands... I have "fired" Debt Settlement USA and am attempting to get my payments to them refunded.
Again... My warning to anybody reading this is to not even consider this type of service... I have found that the credit card companies & collection agencies will work with you directly to settle an out of control debt.
Find yourself a friendly voice to work with at your creditor and get something worked out on your own.
