Capital One should be fined, closed or held accountable in some way, for their business ethics. I applied for a card online in May, was approved and didn't think much more about it. I actually hadn't thought about it at all until I saw on my other credit card that Capital One had paid the amount I had requested. But I had not received a credit card, or statement from Capital One. I called in June, July, August, Sept.in September I received notice that Capital One had reported on my credit that I was 3 months behind. I called again, and later received a letter confirming our conversation that my credit would be taken care of, but still no card and no statement.
Long story short, I called today because the automated thing said that I had been charged $39 late fee. However I paid on time. I have to pay by phone, because I DON'T HAVE A CARD and can't set up my account online, so I get charged a $10 phone fee. Anyway, I paid on the due date, however it wasn't posted till the next day, so therefore they felt like they could charge me a late fee. I called again and was told the late charge would be waived, however when I ask again for a real credit card, I was asked if I had ever requested one. "What" I asked totally exasperated!"Yes, about 7 times." I was told no requests were showing on my account ever. Well, how do you like that? It must be my fault again. I don't know how, but that's what they tell me.
Don't do business with these guys. They have their own rules and apparently answer to no one. If I ever get out of this, I will run when I see the name "Capital One."
