This company is extremely rude and disgusting with their clients who owe a debt. I under stand that we owe a company because we failed to be able to keep up with a financial obligation to a contract, but to have someone over the phone tell you what your family needs to do to help you pay is just sooo blatantly rude.
On September 27th, I called the call center for the agency because I receive 5-7 calls a day on my cell from Academy Collections. All I wanted from the rep who answered was to confirm the address of the place of business so that I may send a letter stating that the calls need to cease and desist. As a person in debt, there are rights that we do have to stop harassment of bill collectors. The young women who picked up the phone said that there is no such thing, when on previous calls I made to the company I was told that this was the most effective way. As I proceeded to ask for the address she refused to speak to me and asked did I want to speak with a Supervisor.
The Supervisor came on the phone and just starting attacking me with rude comments as soon as she got on the line. I then asked her that I would like the calls to stop since they are very frequent on a day to day basis, and also mentioned that no one picks up. She then told me that since I owe a debt, that the calls will not stop. She then proceeded to question me about why I can;t pay the bill. I told her the reasons, and then she goes on to tell me that I need to have my mom pay the bill. She then inquires about me being able to keep a cell phone, but cant keep the bill and tell me that I was laying about not having the money. Personally, If anyone had the money to pay off. A debt, a lot of people would have been debt free already. I then again proceeded to ask her what the address was so that I can send a complaint and don't call letter, then she replies that I am wasting her time cause there are other clients who owe $100,000 dollars in debt that are more important. I told her I wasn't that important, why do they bother to harasss me with phone calls 5-7 times a day. She then told me that I again was wasting her time when I proceeded to ask for the address and she hung the phone up on me. There were other words exchanged in this conversation that I will not put into detail cause we all would be here reading all night.
After she hung the phone on me, I proceeded to call the call center back and get an address to send to file now a complaint and don't call letter. This time a gentleman took the call. I asked him that I would like the address to their location so that I can send a letter and he laughed and said "good bye ma'am" and hung up on me. I then proceeded to call back and someone was able to help me.
Upon trying to obtain the name of the manager that was very rude to me the Morning of September 27th, I also found out from a helpful manager named Erin, that she didn't record, nor put on my account that's he spoke to me. Now making it impossible to even try and get this rude, and ridiculous lady reprimanded. She cursed me out on the phone, and then didn't even make note that she spoke to me!!! I also talked to a gentleman there named Eric, who refused to give me her name when I called.
These people are nasty, disgusting, rude and should be shut down or fined for every letter that comes in about their agency. I hope others see this and call and complain about the way collection agencies carry on with being rude pompous jerks towards people who obviously don't want debt, but are trying to resolve the issue.
