I never applied for this MasterCard, but I recieved a credit card from First PREMIER Bank. I opened the envelope to find the CENTENNIAL Credit Card attached to this letter stating: CONGRATULATIONS! You have been approved for a First PREMIER Bank Credit Card. Under that it states the following:
Account Number: xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
Expires: 0X/10
Credit Limit: $250.00
Initial Fees: $179.00
Available Credit: $71.00
First Payment: $25.00
What you need to know about YOUR new First PREMIER Bank Credit Card:
Sign Card: Your card is active and ready to use. There's no need to call to activate. Please sign the back of your card immediately.
Make Payment: Your first statement should arrive in 7-10 days, allowing you to make your first $25.00 minimum payment.
Payment Options: An important step to maintaining credit is making timely payments. Here are three easy ways to make payments to First PREMIER Bank:
1. Return payment with your statement or mail to:
First PREMIER Bank
P.O. Box 5147
Sioux Falls, SD 57117
2. Visit www.mypremiercreditcard.com
3. Call 1-800-987-5521 for access to our 24-hour AUTOMATED SYSTEM.
Now hmm, something seems wrong here already. I recieve a credit card that I DID NOT APPLY FOR, and now I OWE THEM MONEY? How does this happen?
I then waited for the statement to arrive in the mail to see just exactly what I was being charged for and to my surprize I am billed for the following:
Program fee of $95.00
account set-up fee of $29.00
monthly servicing fee of $7.00
annual fee of $48.00
All at an interest rate of 19.90% and the DAYS IN THE BILLING CYCLE where 30. I checked the post-mark on the envelope the credit card came in and it is marked June 24 and where it gets weird is on the STATEMENT THAT I RECIEVED the STATEMENT CLOSING DATE was June 23.
Not only did I NOT apply for this card, when i called the 800 number you cannot speak with a LIVE PERSON. I wish to cancell this card but have no way to get intouch with anyone, there ISNT even an option to speak with anyone on this automated system. I went onto their website to see if I could find out anything there but I had to Enroll first and just for enrolling the card was charged $3.95. Amongst the noumerous charges I have encurred just for trying to cancel this account my question is will i ever be able to cancel this account? I am making the $25.00 payments and each time I pay it, I am being charged $7.00 just for paying. Is this lawful? Can they do this? All I want is to be able to cancel this account and I have no way to do it. Can someone please help?
