My report is very similar to the others who have filed reports against this company. They are a small scale company that exploit young people like myself.
I heard about them through a friend who gave me a number to call. I called the group and they told me to send in a resume. The next day they called me back and told me they wanted to interview me. Keep in mind that my resume was crap, I created it in 5 minutes. I worked at a dollar store and a community center; that was my work history. That just shows you they are looking for anybody.
At the time, I was desperate for work and I felt like this company might be something great. My friend said I would make 300-400 a week and the pay was awesome. I think my friend was brainwashed because that was not the case at all.
So I go for my interview thinking I am interviewing for an internship. (Thats what they told me, it was an internship)-they will say anything to get you to come in. I get interviewed for 5 minutes and they say they will call me later that night if I made it to the second round of interviews.By the way, they had 4 people in the waiting room making me think the job was a hot commodity.in retrospect, that was one of their tactics, to make you think you are competing against other people for the position.
What do you know? They call me and tell me I've made it to the second round. Keep in mind I am still naive at this point. I don't realize the scam yet.
I go in to their office (its a joke by the way, a rented out space with 2 small office rooms, 1 small waiting area and one big room for you to practice your sales pitch with about 20 of your colleagues) and they give me a second brief interview and tell me that they will call later that night.
They call later that night and tell me I made it. They tell me to come in early 8:45am and dress business professional.
Ok, so at this point I am like flattered and I don't listen to my parents about how this all sounds too good to be true. I feel good about myself and I go out and buy new dress clothes.
I go into the building and now I am starting to see something fishy, there are 10 people in the waiting area dressed nice and ready to go on their ride along. I guess they made it too. Thats how bad the turnover rate is, they had me thinking I was the only one picked.
I am like, "something ain't right" but I go along anyway with a guy named Charlie. We drive around to Dundee, MI and stop at random businesses asking them to buy office supplies from Quill. We were representing Quill office supplies and trying to talk people into buying through us because it's better. This was funny because people thought we were a joke. They didn't know who we were and we wasted their time, and especially mine.
Charlie gives them this corny pitch that is suppose to be highly researched and proven by silermilton. We didn't even make a sale that day.
So we wasted a full day driving around in Dundee trying to sell to people who already have office supply contracts.
Sweet "internship" -you drive around wasting your own gas and you only get paid if you are lucky enough to make a sale. Everything comes out of your pocket, you don't get reimbursed for mileage or gas. They tell you that you can make 6 figures if you stay with the company and become a manager. Yeah right, give me a break. I'm so pissed I wasted 3 days thinking that this company was legitimate. They suck.
You'll notice all the people that have worked there for a little bit think the company is the best thing ever. They are brainwashed. They told me people who quit can't hack it. People who quit are the smart ones. Don't get suckered in like I did. You spend more money than you make. You basically work for free if you try to get a job there.
Siler Milton looks for people who are suckers and will work their ass off for nothing. They make profit at your expense. I hope they get shut down.
