I do not want to do this twice. So this report is being written for the benifit of the public as well as for all the credit reporting Agencies.
In May I paid off my Capitol One credit card and closed the account. On June 9, I received a bill with $400.00 charged to my account, shows also denied, because the account was closed. On June 16, another charge for $358.81. Capitol One allowed this charge to go thru.
After many phone calls to Capitol One and getting no where, except that I would have to pay this bill, I wrote many letter to Capitol One, disputing the charges because I had closed the account.
On August 13, Joel Avery, Capitol One Financial Services, wrote me a letter stating the merchant involved had credited the account the $400.00 and my account was now closed. { both the $400.00 and $358.81 was the same merchant.} But now Capitol One would have to recharge my account $400.00 because I have now been credited twice. { $358.81 still not mentioned}!
I contacted the merchant concerning this matter and HIS advise was, I quote, " get Capitol One off you back and then WE will deal with Capitol One, " unquote. This $400.00 was already denied and did not go thru as a charge. The corrospondance continued, all in writting. Joel Avery wrote me that he had resolved my credit problem with Capitol One. My account would be closed and Joel Avery opened me a new account with a new account number, transfering $869.18 over to it.!!! Capitol One now says I owe them $1474.00, listed on my credit report. The late chrges were $29.00 monthly.
I have turned this matter over to Capitol One's Fruad Department, and filed a complaint against Joel Avery. Looks like it did not do any good. Capitol One alowed a charge to be made on a closed account. Capitol One committed fruad by opening a new account and transfering fruadlent charges to the bogus account.
Will i pay this bill??? HELL NO!!! As a result of this action by Capitol One, I paid off and closed three {3} more Capitol One Accounts. I will never do business with Capitol One. EVER.
I am sending the complaint to all the credit reporting agencies, how more can I express the truth. My file on Capitol One is five inches thick. YES, I keep good records. Perhaps, there is an attorney out there interested in a class action lawsuit. Count me in.
